Welcome to Oh Novaries! This is a place to chat and share experiences about all the dramas our reproductive organs throw at us. Often we feel ashamed or embarrassed about what is happening, but actually, all this reproductive and fertility stuff is super common. So let’s talk about it!
Ever feel like your uterus and ovaries have formed an alliance and are out to get you? Yeah, me too. I think mine have a personal vendetta against me. When I was twenty years old, I was diagnosed with endometriosis. It was a ridiculously hard and tiring process to get diagnosed and an even harder journey afterwards. But here we are, three years later and I have learnt a butt load and still have so much to learn! It is never ending!
Just to let you know a little bit about myself; I am the eldest of six children, four of those being boys. Fair to say, there was no mention of periods in the house. I married my high school sweetheart when I was twenty and we live with our two mini dachshunds and four alpacas. It’s fantastic. Seriously, everyone should invest in alpacas.
When I was a kid, all I ever wanted was to be a mum. Well, also to sell jam donuts out of a van, but we can’t all have the dream job. Anyway, when I was diagnosed with endo, it felt like my entire purpose for existence was shaken. What would I do if I couldn’t be a mother? I would spiral, panic and ultimately end up crying, feeling helpless and stuffing my face with jam donuts and Peanut Butter and Pretzel ice cream. Don’t go looking for it. Connoisseur’s stopped making it for some unknown reason. It was not a happy time of my life.
Once I opened up about having endo, I found there were so many women feeling the same way as me. I learnt that there are so many women who are up for a chat but don’t have a safe place to do so. No, I’m not a fantastic writer, and still, have months where my uterus and ovaries win the battle, but I can chat. Heck, I can chat a lot and I can share people’s stories. Plus I can share the tiny bits of wisdom I have.
So, I’m Eb and welcome to Oh Novaries. Here we can complain, share experiences, advice and build a community of support. Being a girl is pretty darn awesome, but can also be a bit rough. When your own reproductive system hates you, sometimes you just feel like crying and hiding in your donut van (I obviously haven’t given up the dream). But you know what, living with chronic pain makes you freaking strong. So, let’s help each other out, by being strong and positive.
There are so many different ways to contact me so don’t hesitate to go to my Contact Me page or use whatever social pipe you want or just comment a hello below!
As I mentioned in my last blog post, I have received so many lovely messages congratulating me on my pregnancy. I have absolutely loved this and have felt so supported throughout my time being pregnant. It is crazy to think I am growing a human inside of me! I do feel I need to clarify …
Heck. It has been a long time since I wrote anything. I’ve missed writing so it feels good to get back into it. I want to apologize for vanishing for such a long time. I probably did the worst thing and announced my pregnancy and then locked myself away from the amazing online family I …
Pretty much any form you fill out these days asks about your medical history or current medications. Every single time I get to that question, I pause and have an internal debate within my poor little head. Do I tell them? Is there any point telling them? What good will it do? The other question …
